Rule 27
Vessels Not Under Command or Restricted in Their Ability to Maneuver
(a) A vessel not under command shall exhibit:
(i) two all-round red lights in a vertical line where they can best be seen;
(ii) two balls or similar shapes in a vertical line where they can best be seen;
(iii) when making way through the water, in addition to the lights prescribed in this paragraph, sidelights and a sternlight.
(b) A vessel restricted in her ability to maneuver, except a vessel engaged in mineclearance operations, shall exhibit:
(i) three all-round lights in a vertical line where they can best be seen. The highest and lowest of these lights shall be red and the middle light shall be white;
(ii) three shapes in a vertical line where they can best be seen. The highest and lowest of these shapes shall be balls and the middle one a diamond.
(iii) when making way through the water, a masthead light, sidelights and a sternlight in addition to the lights prescribed in subparagraph (i) ;
(iv) when at anchor, in addition to the lights or shapes prescribed in subparagraphs(i) and (ii) , the light, lights, or shape prescribed in Rule 30.
(c) A power driven vessel engaged in a towing operation such as severely restricts the towing vessel and her tow in their ability to deviate from their course shall, in addition to the lights or shapes prescribed in Rule 24(a) , exhibit the lights or shapes prescribed in subparagraph (b) (i) and (ii) of this Rule.
(d) A vessel engaged in dredging or underwater operations, when restricted in her ability to maneuver, shall exhibit the lights and shapes prescribed in subparagraphs (b) (i) ,(ii) and (iii) of this Rule and shall in addition when an obstruction exists, exhibit:
(i) two all-round red lights or two balls in a vertical line to indicate the side on which the obstruction exists;
(ii) two all-round green lights or two diamonds in a vertical line to indicate the side on which another vessel may pass;
(iii) when at anchor, the lights or shapes prescribed in this paragraph instead of the lights or shapes prescribed in Rule 30.
(e) Whenever the size of a vessel engaged in diving operations makes it impracticable to exhibit all lights and shapes prescribed in paragraph (d) of this Rule, the following shall be exhibited:
(i) Three all-round lights in a vertical line where they can best be seen. The highest and lowest of these lights shall be red and the middle light shall be white;
(ii) a rigid replica of the code flag A not less than 1 meter in height. Measures shall be taken to ensure its all-round visibility.
(f) A vessel engaged in mineclearance operations shall in addition to the lights prescribed for a power driven vessel in Rule 23 or to the light or shape prescribed for a vessel at anchor in Rule 30 as appropriate, exhibit three all-round green lights or three balls. One of these lights or shapes shall be exhibited near the foremast head and one at each end of the fore yard. These lights or shapes indicate that it is dangerous for another vessel to approach within 1000 meters of the mineclearance vessel.
(g) Vessels of less than 12 meters in length, except those engaged in diving operations, shall not be required to exhibit the lights prescribed in this Rule.
(h) The signals prescribed in this Rule are not signals of vessels in distress and requiring assistance. Such signals are contained in Annex IV to these Regulations.

Regla 27
Buques sin gobierno o con capacidad de maniobra restringida
a) Los buques sin gobierno exhibirán:
i) dos luces rojas todo horizonte en línea vertical, en el lugar más visible;
ii) dos bolas o marcas similares en línea vertical, en el lugar más visible;
iii) cuando vayan con arrancada, además de las luces prescritas en este párrafo, las luces de costado y una luz de alcance.
b) Los buques que tengan su capacidad de maniobra restringida, salvo aquellos dedicados a operaciones de "limpieza de minas" (1) , exhibirán:
i) tres luces todo horizonte en línea vertical, en el lugar más visible. La más elevada y la más baja de estas luces serán rojas y la luz central será blanca;
ii) tres marcas en línea vertical en el lugar más visible. La más elevada y la más baja de estas marcas serán bolas y la marca central será bicónica;
iii) cuando vayan con arrancada, además de las luces prescritas en el apartado i) , "una o varias luces de tope" (1) , luces de costado y una luz de alcance;
iv) cuando estén fondeados, además de las luces o marcas prescritas en los apartados i) y ii) las luces o marcas prescritas en la Regla 30.
c) Los buques de propulsión mecánica dedicados a una operación de remolque que restrinja en externo tanto la capacidad del buque remolcador como la de su remolque para apartarse de su derrota exhibirán, además de las luces o las marcas prescritas en la Regla 24 a) , las luces o las marcas prescritas en los párrafos b) i) y b) ii) de esta Regla.(1) .
d) Los buques dedicados a operaciones de dragado o submarinas que tengan su capacidad de maniobra restringida exhibirán las luces y marcas prescritas en los apartados i) , ii) y iii) del párrafo b) (1) de esta Regla y, cuando haya una obstrucción, exhibirán además:
i) dos luces rojas todo horizonte o dos bolas en línea vertical para indicar la banda por la que se encuentra la obstrucción;
ii) dos luces verdes todo horizonte o dos marcas bicónicas en línea vertical para indicar la banda por la que puede pasar otro buque;
iii) cuando estén fondeados, las luces o marcas prescritas en este párrafo en lugar de las luces o mareas prescritas en la Regla 30.(1) .
e) Cuando debido a las dimensiones del buque dedicado a operaciones de buceo resulte imposible exhibir todas las luces y marcas prescritas en el párrafo e) de esta Regla, se exhibirán:
i) tres luces todo horizonte en línea vertical, en el lugar más visible. La más alta y la más baja de esas luces serán rojas y la luz central será blanca;
ii) una reproducción en material rígido y de altura no inferior a un metro de la bandera "A" del Código Internacional. Se tomarán medidas para garantizar su visibilidad en todo el horizonte.(1) .
f) Los buques dedicados a operaciones de limpieza de minas, además de las luces prescritas para los buques de propulsión mecánica en la Regla 23 o de lasluces o marcas prescritas en la Regla 30 para los buques fondeados, según proceda, exhibirán tres luces verdes todo horizonte o tres bolas. Una de estas luces o marcas se exhibirá en la parte superior del palo de más a proa y las otras dos una en cada uno de los penoles de la verga de dicho palo. Estas luces o marcas indican que es peligroso para otro buque acercarse a menos de 1000 metros por la popa del buque dedicado a limpieza de minas.(1) .
g) Los buques de menos de 12 metros de eslora, salvo los dedicados a operaciones de buceo, no tendrán obligación de exhibir las luces y marcas prescritas en esta Regla.(1)
h) Las señales prescritas en esta Regla no son las señales de buques en peligro que necesiten ayuda. Dichas señales se encuentran en el anexo IV de este Reglamento.
