From Puerto Píritu to Morro de Chacopata
From Puerto Píritu to Morro de Chacopata
Bahia Redonda is in the north east corner of the Complejo Turistico El Morro on the south shore of Bahia de Pozuelos, west of Puerto La Cruz.

Puerto La Cruz is the oil terminal for eastern Venezuela and usually there are quite a few tankers anchored in the bay, usually south of Cayo Borracho. The commercial ferry terminal is located about a mile east of Bahia Redonda. The fast ferry (Expresos Margarita) enters the bay from the north while the older ferrys enter the bay from the east. Give all ferries a wide berth.

EntranceBahia Redonda is very easy to locate on your chart as it is practically due south (magnetic) from the light at Morro Pelotas at the northern entrance to the bay. As you sail south from Morro Pelotas look for the very thin and tall spire of the Caribbean Mall. It is located less than half a mile west of the entrance to the canal.

Your chart probably shows the entrance lights on the tips of the breakwaters. Those lights have been replaced with new buoy lights.

The Bahia Redonda marina is due east of the entrance to the canal. As you pass the tip of the breakwater, be on the lookout for speeding motor boats coming out of the main canal to starboard. They don't always respect the 5 knot speed limit! You will leave the fuel dock to port as you head into the marina.

New arrival dockIf you are a new arrival, please tie up to the arrival dock shown in the adjacent sketch chart. It is on the floating dock across from the marina office. The marina office is on the first floor right above the Bahia Market. Should you need help, please call the dockmaster on VHF channel 71.

Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 12 noon and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Weekends, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Guards are on duty 24 hours a day and they are also monitor VHF channel 71.

Welcome to Bahia Redonda! We will do our utmost to make sure you have a pleasant stay.
